Imperial College London, Skempton Building De-Steam
As part of an ongoing central steam removal scheme being implemented over at Imperial College London’s South Kensington Campus, and further to our steam removal project undertaken within the level 0 Skempton plantroom, we have been tasked with removing all additional steam appliances and equipment from the rest of the Skempton building.
As part of these works we will be replacing seven heating coils that are currently installed within five air handling units on both the fifth and sixth floors of the building.
We’ll also be replacing district heat network steam-fed in-line (ductwork) humidifiers with new humidifier lances, to be fed by local steam generators. All new steam-fed equipment will be served by new dedicated reverse osmosis plant.
Project Highlights:
– Removal of all district heat network steam-fed appliances within the Skempton building, assisting ICL in completing its decarbonization goal across campus.
– The replacement of AHU coils directly by their respective manufacturer.
– Little-to-no downtime of air systems serving condition-sensitive (temperature and pressure) laboratories / areas within the Skempton Building.
